What to do when you see a drunk driver.

We know for many, New Year’s is a time to party. And with that comes alcohol. If drinking is how you celebrate, we hope you know by now that driving isn’t an option. As always, have a post-party plan to use a designated driver, taxi or ride-sharing service like Uber.

The sad and scary truth is that some people who have been drinking will drive anyway. That’s why this is one of the deadliest times of the year to be on the road.

Last year during the holidays, almost 800 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes. While our increased police presence helps, alert citizens can also make a big difference.

As you take your own safety precautions, be hyper-aware of others on the road around you. Your vigilance can help keep roads safe for you, your loved ones and your neighbors.

If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, call 911 to report them. Law enforcement will take it from there.
